UroLift alternatives: implant-free BPH treatment.

If UroLift's permanent implants give you pause, Nexusuro offers a non-implant mechanical dilation approach — treat and leave nothing behind.

What is UroLift?

UroLift (Prostatic Urethral Lift) uses small permanent implants — like miniature rivets — to retract the lateral prostate lobes and open the urethra. Each implant anchors through prostate tissue: one end on the capsule, the other holding the urethral wall open.

Advantages

  • + High ejaculation preservation (85–95%)
  • + Fast recovery (1–3 days)
  • + 10+ years of clinical data
  • + Multiple RCT studies

Limitations

  • - Permanent implants in body
  • - Limited median lobe handling
  • - 5yr retreatment rate ~20-30%
  • - 2–6 implants depending on prostate

How the non-implant approach works

Nexusuro takes a fundamentally different path: pure mechanical dilation. The columnar balloon catheter enters through the urethra, expands along the prostatic urethra to push tissue outward, then deflates and is removed. Nothing stays inside.

TUCBDP procedure — balloon deflated, catheter withdrawn, nothing left behind

No permanent foreign body

Treat and leave — nothing remains in the anatomy after the catheter is withdrawn.

Handles median and lateral lobes

Columnar balloon design addresses both — no anatomic exclusion like UroLift with median lobes.

No limitation on future treatment

No prior implants to remove. No metal to interfere with imaging or subsequent procedures.

Who fits which approach

Choose Nexusuro

The non-implant path — best when leaving nothing behind matters most.

  • Clear preference for no permanent implant
  • Median lobe involvement present
  • Need future MRI without metal concerns
  • Want to keep all future treatment options open

Choose UroLift

The proven standard — backed by the deepest clinical evidence in MIST.

  • Pure lateral lobe, moderate BPH
  • Value the most extensive clinical evidence
  • Prefer the shortest procedure time
  • No objection to permanent implants
